The central image in the apse mosaic is the coronation of Mary by Jesus. In a smaller window of the apse mosaic (one of five scenes in the life of Mary), a depiction of Mary presenting Jesus in the temple. Joseph to the left with two doves, Simeon with swaddling cloths to receive the child, and Anna the prophetess looking on with one arm raised, holding a scroll in the other.
